Protect your mattress without adding a noisy layer
A spill or sweaty night can leave a mattress stained, while a crinkly cover can make an otherwise comfortable bed feel less restful. A protector won’t soften a rock-hard mattress or correct a sagging one, but it can help keep everyday moisture and dirt from reaching the mattress. This guide to the best terry cloth mattress protector focuses on two Queen-size waterproof options, including their materials, fit, and care details.
Product specifications describe both picks as quiet and breathable, with protection against spills and perspiration. PlushDeluxe highlights a bamboo-derived viscose surface, moisture wicking, and a fit for mattresses up to 18 inches deep; SafeRest offers machine washing on cold and tumble drying. Neither listing provides topper thickness, foam density, corner straps, or a removable cover, so don’t expect pressure relief or a change in firmness from either protector. After reviewing the stated features, these look best suited to shoppers who want a barrier, not a pressure-relieving mattress topper.
If a mattress shifts underfoot, a protector’s fitted shape may help keep the cover neat, but neither product listing specifies a non-slip backing or anchor straps. For more options aimed at steady placement, see this guide to mattress topper sliding solutions. You can also compare a pressure-relief topper option if changing the feel of a firm bed matters more than waterproof coverage.

FAQs
Does a terry cloth mattress protector add pressure relief?
No, these protectors are designed to guard a mattress rather than add cushioning. Neither listing specifies foam, latex, or a plush topper layer, so they won’t meaningfully change firmness or relieve hip and shoulder pressure.
Are these protectors waterproof and quiet?
Yes, both product descriptions state that they provide waterproof protection and a quiet sleep surface. PlushDeluxe specifically describes resistance to spills and bodily fluids, while SafeRest highlights protection from fluids and perspiration.
Which Queen mattress depths do they fit?
PlushDeluxe specifies a Queen size of 60 by 80 inches and a fit for mattresses up to 18 inches deep. SafeRest is listed as Queen size, but the supplied product details don’t state a maximum mattress depth, so check the current listing before ordering for a deep mattress.
Can either protector fix a sagging mattress?
No, a waterproof mattress protector won’t repair sagging or restore support. It can help shield the mattress surface, but substantial dips may still affect spinal alignment and comfort.
How should I wash the SafeRest protector?
SafeRest says to machine wash it in cold water and tumble dry it after cleaning. The supplied PlushDeluxe details don’t include washing instructions, so consult its current care label rather than assuming the same method applies.
Will a mattress protector stop it from sliding?
Not necessarily. These listings don’t specify elastic corner straps or a non-skid base, so a protector may not prevent movement on every mattress. For more advice about a shifting sleep layer, see the guide to keeping a topper in place.
