Natural wool comfort without a bulky layer
A firm mattress can leave your hips and shoulders feeling tender by morning, while a stuffy sleep surface can make warm nights harder to manage. A wool pad adds a different kind of comfort from a thick foam topper: these options are relatively slim, so they can soften the feel of a bed without dramatically changing its support. This guide to the best washable wool mattress pad compares listed materials, care instructions, sizes, and pocket depths so you can focus on what fits your bed and routine.
The YOUR MOON options use Australian wool, a cotton cover, and quilted construction. Their 200 GSM versions are designed as light layers, while the 500 GSM Queen pad offers more cushioning but is not machine washable. Woolroom’s washable protector has an organic cotton cover, an 18-inch skirt, and specified certifications. Product details can help set expectations, but none of these pads should be treated as a fix for deep mattress sagging or a replacement for a supportive mattress. For a topper that stays in place, see this guide to mattress topper slipping and fit issues.

FAQs
Can a wool mattress pad soften a firm bed?
Yes, a wool pad can add a modestly softer surface feel. The 200 GSM YOUR MOON pads are described as light and non-bulky, while the 500 GSM Queen pad is intended to add more cushioning without changing mattress firmness. Neither is a thick 2-inch, 3-inch, or 4-inch topper for substantial pressure relief, and a pad won’t correct a sagging mattress.
Which wool mattress pad is washable?
The YOUR MOON 200 GSM Queen, Twin, and King pads are listed as machine washable in cold water on a gentle cycle, then tumble dried on low until fully dry. Woolroom specifies a delicate wool cycle with wool detergent and line drying, and advises against tumble drying. The YOUR MOON 500 GSM Queen pad is spot-clean only, so check its care instructions before buying.
Can wool help hot sleepers stay comfortable?
Wool can support airflow and manage moisture, which may suit sleepers who dislike a stuffy sleep surface. The YOUR MOON pads pair wool fill with cotton covers, and Woolroom describes its wool as breathable and temperature regulating. These are material-based product claims, not a guarantee that a pad will prevent night sweats.
How do I make sure the pad fits my mattress?
Match the pad size to your mattress and measure its depth before ordering. The YOUR MOON 200 GSM fitted skirts accommodate mattresses up to 16 inches deep, while Woolroom lists an 18-inch skirt. A snug skirt helps limit shifting, but fitted-sheet pocket depth should also account for the mattress, pad, and any other bedding layers.
Is the Twin pad suitable for a college dorm bed?
The YOUR MOON Twin measures 39 by 75 inches, a standard Twin size. Many dorm beds use Twin XL dimensions, which are longer, so confirm the mattress measurements before purchasing. For more dorm-bed sizing considerations, browse these dorm bed topper options.
Does the YOUR MOON 500 GSM pad have the same easy care as the washable versions?
No, its care instructions say not to machine wash it. Spot clean minor stains and consult a cleaner experienced with wool bedding for deeper cleaning. Choose one of the 200 GSM washable pads or the Woolroom option if machine washing is a priority, and follow each product’s specific drying directions.
