Keep spills off your mattress without adding a crinkly layer
A drink spill, pet accident, or overnight leak can reach more than the sleep surface. A zippered encasement covers the mattress sides and bottom too, helping shield the whole bed while keeping the protector from shifting like a loose pad. This roundup of best waterproof mattress cover zipper focuses on practical differences buyers can check before ordering: mattress dimensions, maximum depth, fabric feel, waterproof coverage, closure details, and washing instructions.
These covers are protectors, not comfort-changing mattress toppers: they won’t add cushioning, correct a sagging mattress, or provide foam pressure relief for sore hips and shoulders. Some listed models highlight quiet construction, while the DreamField Linen option describes a soft bamboo-blend surface and a cooling feel. Those are product claims, not a promise that every sleeper will feel cooler. We reviewed the supplied product specifications to distinguish stated features from assumptions. For help with a shifting sleep layer, see these tips for keeping a mattress topper in place; shoppers comparing bed comfort can also browse mattress topper pressure-relief details.

- Waterproof membrane requires gentle laundering and low-heat drying to prevent backing damage
Utopia Bedding Queen Zippered Mattress Encasement

- Non-crinkling knitted polyester keeps the sleep surface quiet during nighttime movement
- Generous pocket depth accommodates queen mattresses up to 15 inches thick
- TPU backing prevents fluid penetration to protect mattress condition and manufacturer warranties
Cons
- Installing a six-sided encasement requires lifting the entire mattress, which generally requires two people
- Impermeable TPU waterproof layers can slightly reduce airflow compared to non-waterproof cotton covers
- Requires strict low-heat drying to avoid damaging or delaminating the internal waterproof TPU backing

- Installing and removing a six-sided zippered cover requires lifting the entire mattress
- Requires low-heat tumble drying to prevent high-temperature damage to the waterproof membrane
Utopia Bedding King Zippered Mattress Protector
The Utopia Bedding King Size Zippered Mattress Protector provides full 360-degree waterproof encasement for standard 78 by 80-inch king beds with profile depths up to 15 inches. FAQs
Does a zippered mattress protector cover all six sides?
Yes, the encasements listed are designed to enclose the mattress with a zipper. Product details specifically state six-sided or all-around waterproof coverage for several options, including the Utopia Bedding models. Check the individual listing for coverage and closure details before purchase.
How do I choose the right mattress depth?
Measure your mattress height and match it to the protector’s stated depth range. The Moonsea Queen model fits mattresses 13 to 16 inches deep; the Utopia queen model fits up to 15 inches, and its full model fits up to 13 inches. A snug fit helps the encasement sit correctly, but don’t assume sizes are interchangeable.
Are zippered waterproof protectors noisy?
Some are described as quiet or non-crinkling. DreamField Linen and Utopia Bedding both describe their covers as noiseless, while the Moonsea option has a soft terry surface. Noise can depend on the material and how smoothly the cover fits, so review the product details if sound sensitivity matters.
Can I machine-wash a zippered mattress encasement?
Yes, care instructions vary by model. DreamField Linen specifies a cold, gentle cycle and low tumble dry, while Utopia Bedding says machine wash and tumble dry on low. Follow the exact care label and avoid assuming every waterproof backing tolerates the same heat.
Will a mattress protector make a firm bed softer?
No, these encasements protect the mattress rather than adding meaningful cushioning. They don’t have a specified foam core or topper thickness, so they aren’t a substitute for a 2-inch or 3-inch pressure-relieving topper. For added comfort, compare cooling mattress topper features separately.
